About
November 18, 2007
For my first few years after graduate school, I taught middle school French, headed up the school’s foreign language department, hosted a popular poetry night, and edited and published a poetry magazine, The Left Bank Review.
In addition to teaching, I worked as a journalist in television news. First at NBC News Channel’s foreign desk, and then as the head producer of a 3 person investigative journalism unit at an ABC affiliate.
Afterwards, I decided to try my hand as an entrepreneur, and landed a job as business development manager with an Israeli start up focused the mobile Internet. I assisted in raising an A round from AOL Ventures, oversaw the company’s PR, developed marketing materials, and landed the company’s first major trial outside of Israel.
Quickly seeing the opportunity in mobile, I went on to co-found JSmart Technologies, Inc., a developer and publisher of casual games for mobile devices, which we sold in 2004 to the SK Group. As JSmart’s CEO, I led the company’s growth into 1 of the top 10 mobile game publishers in North America with key relationships with all the major wireless carriers and handset vendors. At the time the company was sold in 2004 to the SK Group, JSmart had published over 50 leading casual game titles including Merriam Webster Word Search, Betty Boop Crush, multiplayer bingo on over 30 wireless carriers around the world.
Today, I’m co-founder and CEO of MocoSpace, one of the leading mobile communities in the world. MocoSpace has millions of members, and generates over 700 million page views per month. The company has grown to over 25 employees based in Boston and Israel with funding from General Catalyst, the Pilot Group, and Michael Dearing.
I went to school at UMASS, Amherst where I received my BA in Sociology and MA in French Literature.
Outside of work, I’ve been involved with several non-profits as a volunteer, board member or financial supporter including KidSafe , Chittenden County Humane Society, the Refugee Resettlement Program, and the GreenLight Fund.

Hello Justin,
This note pertains more to what you and your colleagues are doing with MocoSpace. I’m impressed with your perspective of the mobile industry and have spent 15 years on the west coast, most recently as Executive Driector of ad sales for the mobile ad start up AdInfuse. The short term focus being ad insertions into content on the fly to any and all mobile devises. Long term their focus is obviously cross platform. However, there are many challenges forging key relations with carriers, handset manufacturers and content partners (inventory)
My background ranges from tradional account management with Global Agency FCB with my last “owned account” being AT&T Wireless. Another several years as senior manager or exucutive in the online space – ad networks -single sites, social networking, etc. Major relationships/contacts with Agency and client side decision makers alike.
The synergies with helping MocoSpace are bountiful and I have an interest in cutting out the process of submitting my resume online, etc. Potentially this could a mutually beneficial match and a thrust to the bottom line. Hoping to find out the best, direct way to reach you or hearing from you soon as you are looking to hire a VP of Sales.
